Thurgoona Cats Win Albury Pennant Grand Final

My team won the Section 1 Grand Final on Saturday afternoon. The finals for all sections (1 through 6, men and women) were held at the Thurgoona Golf and Tennis Club, which is the club I play for. It was fun having the finals for all sections at the same venue, because it drew a crowd. Unfortunately Kristen and I didn't bring the camera to the final, but I posted some pictures (below) from our semi-final match last weekend against Forrest Hill.

My teammates are named Rodney Wurtz and Steve Uiliands. Our team beat the other team 4 to 1. At #1 Singles, Rodney beat his brother Graham Wurtz in a tiebreaker. At #2 singles, I beat Scott Redman 8-4. #3 singles did not quite finish, because the deciding match finished while Steve was leading his opponent (Don Bokkic) 7-4. In the Dubs, Steve and I lost in a tiebreaker, Rodney and Steve won 8-6, and Rodney and I won 8-2 (over a team we had not beaten all season).

On Saturday night, we went to the awards ceremony. Then we went to the Thurgoona Country Club to celebrate with the a bunch of our tennis friends. The whole season was lots of fun!
